timeless

Back in November Tania (a best friend I have mentioned in the past) proposed an idea to me.

and I loved it.

and we ran with it.

The inspiration came from ok go's Cd case book (is that what those things are called?).

Funky backgrounds, mismatched clothing, and an awesome look.

To put this together we picked out the funky fabulous fabrics (like that alliteration?) for our backgrounds and we tried on a million different outfits (husbands included).

Side note...remember when all the Mervyn's went out of business and had their closing sales? Well James, bless his heart, thought it would be a GREAT idea to buy one of those clothes racks. You know. The big metal ones that have 4 arms to hand the hangers on. I guess it was a steal at only $5. But really. We live in a house, not a showroom. The rack has been sitting in storage waiting to go in the trash, but it actually came in handy.

We rolled out our clothes rack, hung up all our clothes, draped the fabric on a wall and got to shooting.

time for change

Woah! Lots of changes around here.

If you see anything that is a little out of whack please let me know and I'll see what I can do to make it better.

I adjusted some margins and made it look semi-symmetrical to me on my computer screen (with the blog posts going down the center) but if that looks weird to you let me know.

The buttons along the top should be finished soon.

Hope you enjoy the changes as much as I do.

and

leave me any feedback

Thanks

Coffee Table

Back in April....lets count....that was 9 months ago, I made a comment about how I scored something great at DI, which I did!
The redo has been completed for a LONG time, probably 8.75 months, but I never got around to taking pictures.
I finally decided that while I was taking Christmas decor pictures that I'd snag a few of the table. I threw everything from the table onto the couch and...
without further ado...

I give you...the $25 table.Solid, sexy, and distressed.

We bought her in her natural 90's stain. (p.s. there is no way to make these pictures look good or cute)
this picture is from after we sanded her

She came with lovely rounded legs.
And now she's BLUE and as cute as a button. She even has a green polka dot drawer knob, but of course I don't have a picture of that.

I love and adore her imperfections and ability to withstand some tough love.
I hope she stays for a long while.

Steps:
sanded
painted
waited
distressed
polyurethaned, for water resistance

Christmas 2010

It hasn't been a full month yet...so I don't think I am TOO far behind on this post.

I continued my banner tradition.
The one for December/Christmas says "Merry Christmas."
I always love how the banners turn out.
I'd like to have one up for every part of the year, but what would January be? I suppose February could be "Love" or "I Love You." But what about January? Although, I must admit the "Merry Christmas" banner stayed up for awhile this January so maybe I don't need one. But any ideas?

Last month I signed up at Real Deals to decoupage a star. When I got there I was so annoyed that the teacher didn't have as cute of papers as her example...but after a lot of errrs, ugggs, grunts, and puffs I think me and my helpers (Tania and Cassidy) came up with a decent product. Now, of course, I love it!
But you know how it is, you see something you love and you want one just like it. I also made one for my mom, but I don't have a picture of that one.
James spent quite a few weeks growing his beard out and we thought it would be fun to color it white and pull the whole Santa HO HO HO thing. Well....if you know James, he has the thickest, blackest, thickest, coarsest, thickest beard ever. We bought white hair color spray (like the kind the kids use for crazy hair day or Halloween) and we tried it out on a little patch of that thick beard and it seemed to work. But when it came time to actually use it it didn't seem to do anything! In fact, it dripped off that thick, coarse, black beard.
We didn't grow that beard out for nothin' (and yes..."we").
By the way, we were around the corner of his parents house trying to prepare for our grand entrance, HO HO HO.
So since the spray wasn't working we moved on to plan B, baby powder. We ran to the ghetto small town dollar store and I bought the most nastiest smelling baby powder (it was really gross) and we powdered the heck out of that beard!

Turned out pretty decent if I do say so myself.
My mother-in-law got a kick out of it. Pierson (one in the picture) was like "uhhh, haha?" And Nathan, who was standing on the couch behind Grandma was saying "that's funny, that's funny" in his adorable raspy little boy voice.

Well the kiddos didn't fall for it, but it was fun!
